Flynn Rider grew up in an Orphanage as Eugene Fitzherbert. Because he was one of the eldest children, he looked after the younger children, many of which looked up to him. He often would read them books from his favorite series, The Tales of Flynnigan Rider. As he grew older, he idolized the character and strived to be like the daring adventurer he read about. This lead to him going by the Alias of Flynn Rider and becoming a thief. While, his idol wasn’t a thief, the lifestyle he lived was definitely one a thief could easily fit into. Swashbuckling adventurer who lived an extravagant lifestyle? AND not too bad with the ladies? Perfect thief material! Flynn doesn’t allow many others to learn of his origins, or even his true name as he’s ashamed of it, and would rather keep up his reputation as Flynn Rider (even if it’s a fake reputation). The reason for this is because as a child he had nothing, and as Flynn Rider, he could have anything (even if he stole it). Also Eugene Fitzherbert doesn’t sound nearly half as cool as Flynn Rider.
Flynn’s occupation of thief often gets him into trouble. He is known as one of the most infamous thieves in the Kingdom of Corona. While he has a knack for trouble, he often gets out of it by talking his way out of it or flashing a grin. Flynn often “knows a guy” who can help him out of trouble if he needed it. This doesn’t mean that he’d help that guy out in return, though. He has a habit of leaving his partners in crime to get caught while he runs off with the treasure. His number one priority is himself, and he will always put his needs over anyone else’s. Some may say he’s a little full of himself, but honestly, that’s just a little confidence! And really, it’s not his fault he was born with great looks. Flynn can also use his quick wit and self confidence to get himself out of the many dangerous situations he finds himself in (whether with the law, or in physical danger). While he’s got his pride (what man doesn’t?) he’s not above doing something he dislikes to save himself…..Unfortunately, this includes singing and dancing.
Flynn keeps people at a distance. While he is social and witty, he tries his hardest not to get particularly close to those around him. His one dream in life is to relax on an island by himself with piles of money (and sometimes not just piles of money, he’d like a castle too, please!). It honestly takes him a while to warm up to people on a personal level. Sure, he may talk to people, but he won’t necessarily connect with them emotionally. The one person who has changed this since his days at the orphanage was Rapunzel.
Rapunzel was the one thing that had really changed Flynn for the better. Originally, when he met her, he wanted nothing to more than to send her back to her tower and make off with his satchel. It wasn’t until his near death experience with her in the cave that he really started changing his view. After he told her his true name (mostly because they were positive they were going to die and she was kind of the only person around), she revealed the magic of her hair. After their escape from the cave and her healing his wounds with her magic hair, Eugene decided to tell her about his childhood at the orphanage. He also revealed that his whole persona of Flynn Rider was based off a kid’s novel series. He made Rapunzel promise not to let anybody know about it, because it would ruin his reputation as an aloof swashbuckling thief (and his fake reputation was all he REALLY had, after all).
Rapunzel was probably one of the only people Flynn went above and beyond for since his days back at the orphanage. There was something different about Rapunzel than anybody else he’d met (besides the long glowing magic hair). It was probably the fact that she was just so innocent and sheltered and wanted one simple thing, to see the lights. It was something so simple that he took for granted, but she wanted it more than anything, and was determined to do anything to see them…. And Fynn definitely loved a girl with determination. When he took her to the town square, he did what he could to make Rapunzel’s birthday amazing. He took her to a bookstore, ate cupcakes with her (he…MIGHT have stolen them) and even danced with her. He even decided to get along with the palace horse, Maximus…which was not something he really wanted to do. Even when he took her to see the lanterns, Flynn pulled out a personal gondola for her. It was then, surrounded by thousands of floating lanterns, that Flynn wanted nothing more than to be with Rapunzel and make her happy. He was even willing to give up his satchel and tiara for her happiness.

Other than that, Flynn has a relatively strong physical stamina. He’s been climbing walls, trees, and fencestowers since he’s been tall enough, so he’s got a great grip. He’s also pretty strong. Don’t expect him to move giant boulders, but he can probably pick up somewhat heavy objects. He’s also relatively fast, and great at hiding, from his many many times running from the palace guards and other people he’s pissed off.
He's also pretty good with afrying pan sword, but he mostly uses it for defensive purposes.
Also the smolder is ability. That totally counts, right? (yes.)
[Other important stuff] Due to the point in canon he’s taken from, Flynn will be going by Flynn Rider instead of Eugene Fitzherbert since the only person who knows his real name is Rapunzel.

Seriously? I’m a hero. I mean, come on, look at me! These good looks? They were meant for a hero.

- If you could change your current lifestyle or job career, what would it be?
Is ‘being rich’ a career choice? Because I could definitely go with that. Private island, piles of money and anything I could want? I could get used to that.

Can I be a lover and a sinner? I’m not too bad with the ladies, and I’m definitely not a saint. I mean, if you had looks this good, would you be a saint?
- Is the best part of waking up having Folger's in your cup?
I dunno what Folger’s is, but I’m not comfortable with anything in my cup when I wake up.

I don’t make contracts, but I do make deals. And sometimes, even promises. But that’s pretty rare, and you’re not cute or blonde enough for that.

- Describe what your character is doing/thinking/wishing/etc. in the following scenario: It's cold and raining. Their umbrella has blown over and is no longer usable. There are three buildings they could run to: 1) the closest is a dark, decrepit old shack that looks like it could fall over any minute, 2) a little ways down the street is an old, abandoned house, but is that blood dripping from the window...?, 3) three blocks up there is a nice hotel all lit up and looks pretty safe.
It was raining. And not just little “plip-plop” drops of rain. This was heavy sheets of rain. The kind of rain that made you run into the nearest building you could find and wait it out. Unfortunately for Flynn, he couldn’t easily find a shelter. He was still on Corona’s most wanted (he had been for a while…) so going to any nice establishment was out of the question until things died down. He sighed, and continued walking down the deserted street. The small (pathetic, really) umbrella he was holding barely sheltered him, and he could feel the rain fall on parts of his shoulders and up the side of his boots.
A gust of wind, came through, sending shivers throughout his body and loosening his grip on his temporary shield to the rain. It was unfortunate that the umbrella was only of the pathetic variety because as soon as he tightened his grip on it, the wind hand blown it over. He heard a snap, and well…that was it. For a moment he held it in his hand and stared at it in shock. He fiddled with it for all of three seconds before completely giving up, and throwing it to the ground. The guards could add littering to his list of growing crimes, he thought bitterly. His wanted posters would read, “Flynn Rider, Thief and Litterer of Umbrellas.”
So now he was getting soaked in the middle of the street, at night. Great. This day couldn’t get better. He looked a little ways ahead and noticed a small abandoned building (more of a shack, really) and ran towards it. He had to avoid both the guards, and the rain. This was the best day of his life. No, really! Because he loved huddling in decrepit old shacks, hiding out from the palace guards, and being soaked through. He sure was living the dream!
He brushed his bangs away from his eyes and moved to huddle in one of the drier areas of the shack. He’d have to wait it out here until the rain let up. His hands rubbed against his arms, in a futile attempt to warm up. It didn’t work, and he didn’t expect it to, really. He sighed, and leaned back against the wall, hoping it wouldn’t crumble behind him.
Well, if he had nothing better to do, he could at least plan his next job, and he had his mind set on a certain royal tiara. He’d have to get a hold of the Stabbington Brothers once the rain let up.
[Why do you want to play this character in Somarium?] Flynn can be a relatively social guy, especially from the point where I’m playing him from. He’d love to help plan some great heists or even just use his ~*~*smolder*~* on a couple of ladies!and maybe mope for a while that he doesn’t have a Blondie with him
